“Until recently my favorite media have always been painting, drawing and paper mache. However, while teaching art I was introduced to clay and actually began to learn from the students I was instructing. For many years I have been a costume designer. I love working with the different fabrics, which I was able to incorporate into my clay sculptures.
Several years ago all of my artistic interest and talents turned to working with clay. I began experimenting with layers upon layers. The Kimonos began to appear, and it was as if the clay became fabric. The layers of clay became forms similar to the textures of fabrics within which I was accustomed to working. I enjoy all art forms, but recently clay has become my love.
It is an honor to have my first show at the Academy Gallery, where I have learned so much over the years.”
