Instructor: Carol Leake
prerequisites: Life Drawing and Beginning Watercolor or equivalents
The class, Figurative Watercolor will explore the possibilities of the medium through study of the human figure, specifically, of the nude model. The time-honored tradition of working directly from the figure in order to better understand the subtleties and complexities of the creature that we are continues to be relevant today. We will work with short and long poses and will also explore historical and contemporary examples of work by artists whose art engages the figure as subject.
Demonstrations by the teacher will be an integral part of the course, as will periodic formal critiques of students' work. Ongoing, casual critiques will occur in every class.
