Adrian Deckbar is known for her drawings and paintings of the human figure and, more recently, nature and landscapes. "In a really good painting" she says, "there is a person communication, a poetry that is a glimpse into the artist's dreams or nightmares, a secret world. Only recognizable imagery, painted with the utmost care for each stroke, can convey that message." A former Tulane faculty member and a former gallery director, Deckbar has had numerous solo exhibitions. She graduated in 1973 with a BA from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. Deckbar also holds two graduate degrees: San Francisco State University, MA, Painting and drawing, 1977, and Tulane University, MFA, Painting and Drawing, 1981.

Adrian Deckbar taught still life and portrait oil painting classes at NOAFA for many years.
