Beginning & Intermediate Oil Painting
Instructor: Kathleen Matthews
Prerequisites: Beginning Drawing or equivalent
Beginning painting students will receive an introduction to the basic materials and traditional techniques of oil painting. Students will use inanimate objects as themes for pictorial composition. The knowledge beginning students acquire in this class is absolutely essential to all other oil painting classes, including all Still Life, Figure, Portrait, and Landscape courses. Intermediate painting students will receive instruction and guidance based on their interests and level of proficiency.
This class takes place in our 2nd floor painting studio with ample artificial lighting. There is an option of porch spaces with great natural North light, which are allocated to students who request them on a first-come-first-served basis. These porch spaces are not shared with other students and therefore allow the student to paint any time the office is open (daytime only). Please note the higher tuition fee for these spaces.
