American Realism and South:
influence, ancestry and progeny
Instructor: Saskia Ozols Eubanks
This class examines the history, roots, and birth of realist painting, with focus on tracing its artistic lineage in America from Boston and New York through Philadelphia to New Orleans. Direct technical and conceptual relationships from teacher to student will be closely examined through slide lectures and a lively discussion. One class a week will involve direct observation of paint quality on location at collections throughout the city. Students are responsible for their own transportation and entry fee if applicable when we go on location.
