Kim Bernadas works in both figure and portrait sculpture using a classical approach, with emphasis on proportion , gesture, and individuality to express the essence of the subject. With a background as a physical therapist and a former ballet instructor, Kim has had a life long study in the dynamics of the human form . Her artistic training began at NOAFA in Sculpture in 1991, and she has presently been on faculty since 2006. Kim has also taught Sculpture at the St. Tammany Art Association, and held 5 day intensives in Alabama and Florida. She is also a member of the National Sculpture Society and the New Orleans Art Council.
Her professional career has included public and private collections; most recently, The Tulane Medical Center Maternity Pavillion for a lifesize Mother and Child ; she was also featured in New Orleans Magazine and named the 2005 WYES Artist of the Year, and an award winner in the 2004 National Drawing Exhibition, Sante Fe. Her most recent exhibit was in March of 2006 at the Academy Gallery.
