Zack Smith has been documenting the social landscapes that surround him for the past 11 years, and since 2000, has focused his energies on New Orleans and Southwestern Louisiana. Smith specializes in environmental portraiture, performance, and street documentary photography.
Smith is currently a photography instructor at The New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts and is the live performance photographer for the Contemporary Arts Center. For three years, Smith was shooting assistant for photographer Herman Leonard. Smith is also chief photographer for the Murphy Institute of Economy at Tulane University, Tulane University Band, KidSmart, and a house photographer at Tipitina’s.
Editorial clients range from Parenting Magazine, Alternative Press, Rolling Stone, URB, SPIN, MOJO, SBO, Antigravity, and Offbeat.
Smith’s photographs have been featured most recently with a solo showing of his 10 year Portrait retrospective “None a Stranger” in August of 2007 at The Big Top Gallery.
