About Kathleen Trapolin

Kathleen Trapolin is a native of New Orleans. She studied at the Columbus College of Art and Design, Columbus Ohio, for three years. While there, she was awarded a Ford Foundation Scholarship for her work in print-making and sculpture. She subsequently attended Newcomb College of Art at Tulane University and earned her B.F.A. in 1982. Ms. Trapolin has received numerous awards from Newcomb College, including a nomination for a summer fellowship at Yale University. For the past twenty-two years, Ms. Trapolin has taught watercolor and drawing at various art schools in the region, including the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts, Louisiana Center for the Arts' School for Contemporary Realism, St. Tammany Art Association (Covington, LA), New Orleans Museum of Art, and the Isidore Newman School (New Orleans, LA). She has exhibited her work extensively in regional, national and international competitions and exhibits, including the Contemporary Arts Center of New Orleans, Newcomb College, St. Tammany Museum of Art (Covington, LA), New Orleans Museum of Art, the Liege International Trade Fair (Liege, Belgium), Zigler Museum (Jennings, LA), Arts Council of New Orleans, L.S.U. Union Art Gallery (Baton Rouge, LA), and the Downtown Gallery (New Orleans, LA). Ms. Trapolin has traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe, and her award winning paintings and watercolor portraits can be found in public and private collections nationwide.
