Annual Student Exhibition          

At the close of the school year, the Academy presents its annual Student Exhibition. The well-attended exhibition is open to all students who have registered for at least one session in that year. The Academy instructors jury the show and select the outstanding students whose work will appear. Awards and scholarships are awarded by faculty vote based on merit and dedication. Each year the work of superlative students is selected by the faculty for individual recognition and, in the cases of some awards, a monetary prize.

The Gwendolyn Laan Ozols Award was established by James J. Coleman in memory of Gwendolyn Laan Ozols. This award is given for outstanding accomplishments, capability of continued growth, and our anticipation of the student's future contributions to the community through art.

The Thomas Eakins Award is given to a student who has demonstrated consistent, outstanding growth and overall excellence.

The Lila and Walter Stuempfig Memorial Award was established by Anthony Stuempfig in memory of his parents. This award is given for overall excellence. Walter Stuempfig (1914 - 67) was an American painter and professor at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.

The Jaye D. Percy Award was established by Billups Percy in memory of his wife, a former student at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts. This award is given to a student who has shown exceptional promise, discipline, and selfless devotion to studying the fine arts.

The Alfred Stieglitz Award is presented to a student of photography who made exceptional progress in establishing personal vision, developing a unique style and innovatively mastering technology, has demonstrated outstanding creativity, and shows significant potential to contribute to arts community.

The NOAFA Scholarship Award is given to a student who has demonstrated outstanding growth and progress, shown dedication by attending classes full time at a financial sacrifice.

The Director's Award is granted by Auseklis Ozols, the director of the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts in order to give special recognition to a student for meritorious accomplishment.

Faculty Awards: Each member of the faculty grants one of these awards to honor a student who has shown outstanding ability and a sincere interest in learning.
